3. Heat
High heat and the length of time high heat is used on the hair will also reduce the structure of the hair. The hair will lose its elasticity. When we lighten natural hair, the oxidation of the melanin will give a reduction of the natural pigments. Decoloration will have an effect on the natural pigments. They will act especially on the granular pigments and will act progressively as the action of the decoloration takes place. The granular pigments will transform into diffused pigments which explains the apparitions of the reflect more or less intense as the decoloration processes.
1. Ammonia
Ammonia is used in permanent (oxidative) haircolor. When the permanent haircolor and the developers come together, the action of ammonia begins. Like all alkaline, the ammonia has the tendency to separate the cuticle and allows the permanent haircolor to penetrate the cortex of the hair. The ammonia has an effect on the sulfur bonds of the hair. If the ammonia is too harsh, the hair will lose more of the sulfur bonds than necessary. It will cause the hair to harden, lose weight and diameter.

A pigment called melanin is responsible for hair color. There are 2 types of melanin found in the hair. Eumelanin, is the most common type, it gives the hair shades from brown to black. , with about four hundred and fifty thousand of them to be found above the neck. These hairs include about one hundred thousand hairs on the head and about thirty thousand hairs taken up by mustaches, beards, or whiskers. The hairs on the head grow by about one centimeter per month and reach a length of around 70 centimeters if they are not cut. Hair grows at a faster rate in the spring and summer than in autumn and winter.

Because of its position, it gives the hair toughness but little strength (5%). Some moisture is contributed to the hair as a by-product of this bonding.

The Salt Bond
The salt bond is also an ionic (electrolytically controlled) bond formed by the electron transfer from the side chain of a basic amino group (an amino acid with an 00C- group) to the side chain of an acidic amino acid, i.e. NH3+. (This is two positive and negative charges attracting one another.) This occurs in a position paralleled to the axis line of the rotation of the helix of the hair. The salt bond is responsible for approximately 35% of the strength of the hair and 50% of the hair's elasticity.
The Hydrogen Bond
The first bond we will discuss is the hydrogen bond. This bond is located between the coils of the alpha helix and is responsible for the ability of the hair to be stretched elasticity) and return back to its original shape. The hydrogen bonds allow us to change the shape of the hair temporarily with the aid of water. These bonds are electrolytically controlled and are the most readily broken down and the most readily reformed. These bonds are responsible for approximately 35% of the strength of the hair and 50% of the hair's elasticity (some would argue up to 99.9% of the hair’s elasticity).
Bonding in Keratin Protein
When the hair is in its normal unstretched state. It is referred to as A of alpha keratin. The original configuration of the hair is held in place by the bonding found in the cortex layers of the hair. As we stated earlier, keratin protein begins with an alpha helix building into protofibrils, microfibrils, macrofibrils, then cortex layers. The bonds in the hair are located within each and every alpha helix.
The A Helix Coil
n the organization of a single hair, three "alpha helices" are twisted together to form a "protofibril". This is actually the first fibril structure of the hair. Nine protofibrils are then bundled in a circle around two or more to form an eleven-stranded cable known as the "microfibril". These microfibrils are embedded in an amphorous unorganized protein matrix of high sulfur content, and hundreds of such microfibrils are cemented into an irregular fibrous bundle called a "macrofibril". These macrofibrils are grouped together to form the cortex (or the main body) layers of the hair fiber. Packed dead cells surround these structures and are known as the cuticular layers of the hair. In the center of these structures lies the medullary canal, which is actually apart of the excretory system and houses any foreign debris, heavy metals, synthetics and medications that are thrown off by the body and eventually released through the canal.

We will begin by defining the hair. Hair is composed primarily of proteins (88%). These proteins are of a hard fibrous type known as keratin. Keratin protein is comprised of what we call "polypeptide chains.”

AIDS Information Switzerland was founded in 1989 by doctors from the whole of Switzerland as a politically and denominationally neutral association for the benefit of the public, in order to bring doctors' viewpoints increasingly into the AIDS discussion. On the basis of its strictly scientific-orientated activities more than 600 people, predominantly doctors, dentists and pharmacists, among whom are numerous professors and senior consultants, have joined AIDS Information Switzerland. Our Personal Narrative
I want to speak with you about the stories we tell ourselves, each and every moment of our lives, the stories that are our personal narrative.
When I say personal narrative, I mean the everyday interpretations of the world and imperatives of our life that come to us in our thoughts and feelings, when we are awake and even in our dreams. Included are all the important stories inside us, those that guide and shape our lives. This includes stories we are aware of and know well, even if we have not always fact-checked them. But our personal narrative also always includes the many stories told inside us that we do not know and may not hear, and that shape us nonetheless. For all of us, there are always parts of our personal narrative we are unaware of, storylines that influence our lives in ways we cannot see and sense.

Our assessment tool is designed to give you immediate, personalized feedback on fifty dimensions of natural health, each drawn from the HumanaNatura program.

Failure to follow the instruction
Failure to follow the instructions for a given method of birth control exactly as directed is a key cause of contraceptive failure. If you're using birth control pills, taking them at exactly the same time every single day greatly reduces any chance of contraceptive failure and unplanned pregnancy. When using condoms as a contraceptive, it's imperative that they're used properly and in good condition. Women who use a diaphragm or cervical cap need to make sure that the cervix is completely covered before having sexual intercourse. IUD users need to check that the device is in place monthly.
The 'Why' Behind Contraceptive Failure
If you use contraceptives and suddenly find yourself pregnant, you may wonder why your chosen method of birth control failed to work. The fact is that an overwhelming 53% of unplanned pregnancies occur in women who are using contraceptives. And while you may think that only teenagers and young women experience contraceptive failure, the fact is that the majority of unplanned pregnancies, about three-quarters of them, occur in women over the age of 20, according to an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Chris Landreth shows his latest short film, "The Spine", and talks about his approach to modeling and animating the complexities of the film's characters. He explores the "Uncanny Valley" (the "creepy" effect of making CGI characters that are too realistic) and how "The Spine" attempts to avoid this problem. He also shows how his animators used a Method-acting approach to mick subtle gestures, ticks, and micro-expressions in their characters' faces and bodies, and explains how his crew balanced realism and stylization to create characters who are Uncanny in a positive way.
Keynote Speaker
Steve Duenes manages a staff of 30 journalists who work as a team to shape and deliver visual information by researching, writing, designing, and programming information graphics for both the printed newspaper and www.nytimes.com. His team has received awards from numerous organizations including the Society of Publication Designers, American Institute of Graphic Arts, Society for News Design, and the Society of Professional Journalists. He is also a member of the faculty at the School of Visual Arts in New York and contributing cartoonist for The New Yorker.
